Studies show that most humans are more likely to protect a cousin they've never met than a friend they've known their whole life. This is because they share more DNA with that person, meaning humans prioritize their own flesh and blood. It is extremely selfish to love your family more than everybody else. Everyone is equal in value and everyone is equally capable of compassion under fair circumstances.
