Help for a novel! (Urgent HELP!!!)

So I am writing a novel based on Wars of the roses where a young girl falls in love with a serving boy. Now I want to connect the past with the present so which do you think?
World war one (Maybe two I dont really care!)
Or perhaps The present day (2012)
I cant choose please HELP!

I agree. WWII. It makes things much more complicated and difficult for characters. 2012 is too easy going and not as scary. WW2 however had Hitler, Holocaust, Mussolini, Tojo, Stalin, oppression, new technological advances for war, atomic bombs, it was pretty dang freaky! I think if you add those details in your story it could totally work. Plus, I love love/survival stories that take place during that time period. It's so romantic, sweet, and sad. It combines all of the badness in the world during that time along with a small piece of hope. I think you should do a World War II setting.
