“All right,” Annabeth said. “Why don't we take the day off today, get some sleep, and then start on the next chapter.”
“YES!!” Nico shouted, pumping his fist. “I wonder how long it would take to finish one book. Took us a day to finish the first chapter.”

“I'll read,” Percy volunteered.
“Are you sure?” Thalia narrowed her eyes at Percy. “It might take us forever to finish a paragraph if you read.”
“Hey!” Percy protested. “Like you could do any better.”
“Just let him try,”Jason said. “I mean, I don't know if I can read either.”
Percy cleared his throat. “Chapter two. Three Old Ladies Knit the Socks of Death.”
"Interesting title," Thalia muttered.
Grover (don't know if he's here. I'm just going to say that he is) shuddered. “Not them, not them,” he whimpered. Percy just rolled his eyes, ignoring the confused looks from everyone else.
I was used to the occasional weird experience, but usually they were over quickly. This twenty-four/seven hallucination was more that I could handle. For the rest of the school year, the entire campus seemed to be playing some kind of trick on me.
“Except for Grover,” Percy added before continuing.
The students acted as if they were completely and totally convinced that Mrs. Kerr-a perky blond woman whom I'd never seen in my life until she got on our bus at the end of the field trip-had been our pre-algebra teacher since Christmas.
Conner's mouth hung open. “Whoa! Percy actually made it through the first paragraph.”
Travis's eyes were huge. “Annabeth must be proud.”
“Shut up,” Annabeth growled. Both Percy and Annabeth turned red. Jason and Piper exchanged glances and Reyna looked down-right murderous.
Every so often I would spring a Mrs. Dodds reference on somebody, just to see of I could trip them up, but they would stare at me like I was psycho. It got so I almost believed them-Mrs. Dodds had never existed. Almost.
Percy turned to look at Grover. All eyes turned towards him. “What?!?” Grover glanced nervously at everyone.
“Who wants to read?” Percy asked.
“Me,” Katie said. Percy tossed her the book. “Now where were we? Oh, got it!”
But Grover couldn't fool me.
Percy sighed. “What did I tell you?”
Jason grinned. “Nice. Psychic powers maybe?”
“Oh how I wish.” They started chattering nonstop about some random topic that no one could understand.
Thalia glanced at Piper, Reyna, and Annabeth and they seemed to come to a silent agreement. Thalia punched Percy hard. Annabeth kneed him in the soft spot. Reyna kicked Jason in the guts and Piper slapped him several times and gave him a nice hard punch. Both boys fell on the floor, unconscious.
“Well,” Travis said nervously. “At least it wasn't me.”
“Or me,” Conner piped up.
Reyna looked up. “Do you want us to fix you up?” Both boys backed up. Nico and Grover ran into the kitchen, followed by the Stolls. Katie grinned at Reyna.
“Now we have the whole room to ourselves,” Katie said happily.
“Let's rock it!!” Piper shouted.
