Superstar Sam Smith took home his very first Oscar — Best Original Song — Sunday night alongside Jimmy Napes for their tune, “Writing’s On The Wall,” from

Earlier in the show, Smith thrilled the audience and fans with a dramatic performance of the song. Watch it all go down in the clip below.

“I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community around the world,” Smith said in his acceptance speech. “I stand here tonight as a proud gay man, and I hope that we can all stand together as equals one day.”
