In a world of violence, enmity, and discord, the one moment when the Earth stands still - when the lion temporarily releases its prey, when feuding diplomats cast aside their differences, loosen their shirt collars, when we step back from the monotony of our day-to-day lives to marvel at the 384400 km that separate us from the crescent moon and the wider galaxy - these moments of nirvana can all be traced back to one event.

The very second new photos of One Direction\'s Niall Horan watching sport are released.

The story began in 2012 when fetus Niall attended the New Zealand vs Australia ANZAC Test in Auckland, New Zealand.

You probably remember it as the time you felt conflicted about the order in which you would hug Niall and Harry in this photo. You may even have tried photoshopping yourself between them.

At this stage, we assumed Niall\'s attendance at any sporting event was a one-off occasion, so we cherished the pictures we received and got on with our lives.

He returned to the sporting sidelines later on in the year, eagerly watching Louis Tomlinson\'s charity football match from the pitch sidelines.

We dared to hope that Niall might make a habit of being a sporting spectator, but we reasoned that his purpose in attending this event was merely to support Louis, and we consciously minimised our expectations for any future events.

HE SURPRISED US - returning to the sporting sidelines in 2013, this time watching Novac Djokovic play Rafael Nadal in the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

It was a very important occasion, partly because it was the final tournament of a world-recognised sporting event, but mostly because Niall Horan looked like this.

Shortly after this, the event of dreams occurred; Niall Horan and Harry Styles went golfing together.

While we acknowledge that this occasion has nothing to do with Niall watching sport per sé, we figured you were unlikely to have any complaints about being reminded of this picture.

Niall then graced us with an early Christmas present by accompanying Liam Payne to the New York Knicks and Orlando Magic basketball game at Madison Square Gardens.

His side profile was nothing short of mesmerising, and it was at this point that we knew; these events were more than a coincidence. The pattern was undeniable. More pictures of Niall watching sport were to be imminently released.

Recognising the delightful convenience of small balls, Niall switched things up by watching the Tennis, attending the Wimbledon match between Lukas Rosol and Rafael Nadal, and sipping on his cider as the game played out.

Tired of watching, he decided to get involved. He also probably wanted to murder everyone, which is the only reasonable explanation for why he selected this particular outfit above all others. Not that we\'re complaining. It was a good way to die.

Exhausted, he returned as a guest to the Wimbledon championship, marking the occasion by unbuttoning his shirt a notch lower than usual.

And in recent weeks, Niall has once again returned to his natural habitat, NY snapback on his head, backside firmly perched on a seat, focusing carefully on the match below.

We have watched him transform into a seasoned professional spectator right before our very eyes, and one day we might just join him in seat number 4.
