I doubt they even knew each other. Sunset has been in our world for quite a few years and Trixie has been traveling around.

Sunset Shimmer used to be a student of Celestia, so she can't always have been traveling (unless Celestia sent her on missions like Twilight) and Trixie moves around an awful lot. Still, if they were to meet, I could see a possible alliance happening.
