ESPN removes Asian-American broadcaster Robert Lee from calling UVA game... because of his name. 

Something getting glossed over in a lot of the reporting on this is that he was uncomfortable with it and link away from a game in Charlottesville. It was his personal choice. And it wasn't because his name would 'offend people', it was because they feared the never-ending stream of memes (but obviously it backfired spectacularly). No politically correct efforts. No race war. Just trying to be supportive of a young guy who felt it best to avoid unwanted internet attention.

So yeah, the articles claiming that he was pulled off the air against his will are just there to generate faux outrage and "this is what we've come to" type sentiments.
