‘s first two seasons have taken a gritty look at the rise of the Emerald Archer. One of the bright spots in the darkness, though, has been a quippy IT girl; in her honor, we’ve picked our top ten Felicity Smoak-isms.
, initially intended to be a one-off character, but Emily Bett Rickards won over the hearts of the cast, writers, and fans alike, leading her screen time to steadily increase until she was promoted to series regular in season 2.
And, after spending the season struggling to find her place among the trained fighters of Team Arrow, Felicity came full circle from Oliver Queen’s personal researcher and truly became a hero in her own right by injecting Slade with the Mirakuru cure when no one else could get close enough.
Felicity brings levity to what could become an overwhelmingly dark series. Below, we look at our top ten Felicity lines, listed chronologically.
‘I should add ‘personal Internet researcher for Oliver Queen’ to my job title.’
Felicity isn’t afraid to say what she thinks, even to the son of her employer’s founder, making for an amusing dynamic.
‘I hate mysteries. They bug me. They need to be solved.’
We only got glimpses of Felicity at first, as she wasn’t originally intended to be a large part of the series. However, this line was an early indicator of the type of person Felicity is and why she was destined to become a part of Team Arrow.
Psst, she also dyes it. But Oliver is sworn to secrecy; she keeps
‘It feels really good having you inside me. And by ‘you.’ I mean your voice. And by ‘me,’ I mean my ear.’
Perhaps one of Felicity’s most endearing qualities is her frequent foot-in-mouth disease, as she regularly makes accidentally sexual comments without meaning to. Once she’s realized what she’s said, her reactions are priceless and bring some much needed humor to otherwise intense situations.
‘I’ve always wanted to say I’ve taken a bullet for someone and now I can.’
With Sara joining Team Arrow, Felicity found herself struggling to find her place among a group of well-trained crime fighters. It’s clear that taking a bullet to protect Sara makes Felicity feel like a useful part of Team Arrow, giving this seemingly amusing scene a bittersweet undercurrent.

The last one and bitch with wi fi! i love her so much, and for my sake i hope oliver loves her back! i’m kinda of hoping that he already loves her, but it’s in denial or trying to protect her… idk i hope they work things out anyway
I love Arrow with devotion and Felicity’s character grew to become my favorite on the entire series. She could have easily been reduced to being the show’s comic relief, but then she also has extraordinary moments of depth. Her perspective, support and input make Oliver Queen a better man and a better hero. I really think she’s the heart of the show.
My favorite Smoakism this season would have to be either the “bitch with wifi” scene or the “Felicity Smoak. MIT Class ’09.”. Both moments killed me in the best possible way. So Felicity, so good.
I love Felicity Smoak, she’s the reason I’ve remained such a loyal Arrow fan. But not only that, she makes Oliver Queen a likable protagonist and hero. I honestly believe that without her influence, faith, and loyalty to the heroism within him, he could have very well remained a questionable anti-hero. And Oliver has proven myself capable and willing to be more than even he felt he could be. I just love these two and their dynamic. Through Felicity, I now adore Oliver Queen. And I didn’t think that was possible at times. As far as their relationship is concerned, she’s the only character on the show that doesn’t hold him to some expectation of being his former self. That person no longer exists. She knows exactly who he is and can read him like no other. So I’m really looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds in their relationship.
yep! which is why she also works the best (unless they introduce someone else) as the most likely end game for him – should they chose to end the show with an game, they could also go at it ala Ugly Betty style (we know there’s something there but we’ve decided to not really do anything about it- although granted in UB it would have been weird given the show got canceled and didn’t have the time to properly set it all up the way Arrow seems to be doing).
Felicity is my favorite :) She’s just so amazing and she’s beautiful and intelligent. She might not get out there and kick ass like Oliver or Sarah but she definitely does her part! Her “I love having you inside me” line always cracks me up!
Felicity definitely gets some of the best lines on the show. And Emily
Bett Rickards delivers them all with aplomb. She makes those lines sing —
memorable and quotable. Here’s hoping for more snappy banter between
her and Oliver (and Diggle and Roy, too) in Season 3. Her back-and-forth with Oliver
