Because Yuki is a pureblood and Zero really hates pureblood.But actually Zero doesn't want to kill Yuki,he loves her and he just wants to make 2 of them become enemies by saying that sentence and keep his love for her in deep deep of heart

That's the best way to make them enemies,and also the best way to make the love story between them become more exciting^^
Zero`s not actually after Yuuki, he hasnt tried to kill her in the latest manga I have read...I think he`s trying to obtain his reason for living...and thats what Yuuki told him before she left. "I`ll keep running away so that you have a reason to live."
