"The reason I don’t like Duncan and Gwen together romantically is because I think they're way too alike. If I didn't know any better, I probably would've mistaken them for twins, or cousins at the most. I can't think of a single opposite personality for them to bounce off the other and to mature and learn from.
Take my mom for example. She dated a guy in high school, and they were almost exactly alike. The guy treated my mom like a queen, and she did like him at first, but it got old for her fast. She told me that since they were so much alike, she never really learned anything from him to grow off of and there was never anything new. It was always the same ol' same ol'. She just felt no current and future chemistry for him. So she broke it off. And then she met my dad. And they were similar and opposite in so many ways. They still are. He's a perfectionist, she's more "go with the flow"; he over-explains things and never shuts up, she's straight to the point; he's more tense, she's more calm; he's a brainiac when it comes to math, she sucks at it and only passed college math because my dad constantly helped her. But they both love music from their teen years, they both have a temper (when it's brought on), they both have a lot of common sense, they both work hard to give me and my brother what we need, and they both have the ability to laugh at each other. They dated for 8 years, and just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary earlier this month. Not to mention they had me and my brat of a little brother. XD
Duncan had a fantastic influence on Courtney. He made her feel alive and free, and that there was a life outside of the “perfect good girl” bubble she was trapped in. He popped that bubble for her. Courtney, on the other hand, released Duncan’s sweet side, a side no one ever sees. She showed him that he didn’t need to put up his bad-boy image to block out how he feels. He seemed more free to let his feelings flow around her. Gwen used to be a total dark soul, who seemed to have no special light in her life. Trent made her feel special and unique, and more proud to be herself. As for Trent, he was a sweet and lovable guy, who wanted someone special. And Gwen made him feel like he had a better purpose, and who made him happy. Duncan and Gwen have no influence on each other. All they do is flirt and poke jokes. That's it. I also noticed that, unlike with Duncan/Courtney and Gwen/Trent, there are no sweet surprises or suspense or unexpected moments. It just seems so predictable, expected, and.... blah. It's like eating the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of your life. It's okay at first, but then it gets boring and old.....fast. Go DxC and TxG. =) <3 <3"
