Emmy's voice was terrible in this movie. I don't care if she was 16/17 years old when she filmed it. I wouldn't care if she was 14, 12... Hell, I wouldn't even care if she was fucking 10. If she's this far in her career that she's playing CHRISTINE DAAE on screen, she better know what she's fucking doing (which she obviously doesn't considering her godawful voice and her one facial expression throughout the whole film).
Her voice in this shitty movie is BEYOND weak, her diction is unintelligible, she has ZERO resonance/power, her high notes sound like a million screeching cats being slaughtered, she sings completely through her nose, her voice is COMPLETELY breathy, she's pitchy/flat about 90% of the time, and her emotion is nonexistent.
Her voice has improved since then (in the sense that a subpar C- is an improvement over an atrocious F, but whatever), but that doesn't change the fact that her voice was godawful back in 2004.

The person that dubbed Minnie Driver is really good.
