MIKE SOUNDS GAY AND SARAH LOOKS LIKE
MISS PIGGY FROM THE MUPPETS"
Okay, well, she does, but...okay, I really don't have a good comeback for that...I'll get back to you.
Yeah, I'll just...get away from you insane people. *gg*
Okay, Michael is The Phantom, and the stage show is what it is today because of him. If he wasn't the original Phantom, it would have been *gag* Steve Harley and I'm sure the show would not have been nearly as successful as it is. And of course, that would mean: NO 2004 MOVIE! *gasp*
And Sarah is just...the most amazing person in the world.
But i have never seen or heard every actor or actress and so i keep an open mind on the subject. I mean, my mum used to work backstage (sry that makes me sound like im bragging doesn't it?) and so she worked with or alongside about four phantoms but when she took me to see at her majestys theatre back in january, the guy who played it then (and still does) called Ramin Karimloo (which is, i think, an EXTREMLY cool name) my mum said that he played it pretty good, cuz apparently some actors completly over played bits, like at the end, you know, after Christines run off Raoul, and the phantoms all upset. But he played it really well.
So i'd have to conclude this (rather long) little story with i suppose every actor & actress has their strengths, but, admit it, its a really hard role to play, especially since its been goin on so long, you got so much to live up to, and its was probably just as hard for Emmy & Gerard, cuz they got live up to all that, AND make it presentable for everyone else.
(wow that went on a while, didn't it?)
I love Sarah as Christine but I'm starting to like Rebecca Caine more. And Rachel Barrell is definitely the best Christine actress, plus her high notes are AMAZING.
Michael Crawford's voice is breathtaking.. He IS the Phantom of the Opera.. the whole role is based on how he played it.. No one can beat him.. I bought his newest CD that has MotN on it and it is still perfect.. And his evil laugh.. have not heard one to match it yet
As for Sarah Brightman.. how can you beat the person it was written for.. now yeah she doesn't sing so good.. but then, she was amazing..
-As for other options, I would say Ramin and Sierra and a very close second, he just can't do the laugh ... that's it that's my criticism of them :P
Gerard and Emmy *gag*
And Colm Wilkinson, his voice is like liquid gold, it is amazing.. I have the original Les Miserables with him and then when I found out that he was the very first Phantom I thought wow.. and on the 25 concert.. how old is he now and he still sounds that good... and his french accent just adds to it..
However there are aspects to both of their voices that I slightly dislike; I feel that Brightman over-does her diction and Crawford's voice swoops about too much. This leads to me not finding him frightening or even very intimidating as a character who is meant to be psychotic.
