“I asked her what she meant by a time like that. That’s when she started to put the pieces of the puzzle together. That’s when she asked me about my mother and I had no idea that we had the same one. Annie was the one that started to figure everything out. While she was talking about a picture of her father that had been ripped down the middle, I knew that I had a picture of my mother which had been ripped down the middle. The picture of my mother that I had in my trunk was the one that my father had once hidden in his sock drawer and I kept looking at it until eventually he told me that I could have it. Annie found her picture after I grabbed mine. We gave each other to the count of three which was when we would reveal them to each other. Neither of us had any idea what to expect.”
“We counted to three and then we revealed our pictures to each other. I was shocked to find out that Hallie’s picture of her mother was my mother just like Hallie was shocked to find that my picture of my father was her father. It was then that we realized that not only were we sisters but we were twins. After that realization that we were twins and not only children like we had been told all our lives, Hallie grabbed her locket which has an H that she got the day we were born and I grabbed mine which has an A on it that I too got the day we were born. We just stood there crying and hugging each other while saying Oh my God at the same time. Later that same night, we decided to place our beds together after we placed the picture back together. Hallie asked me questions about our mother which I answered. After Hallie’s questions about our mother, I had some of my own questions about our father. Both of us were shocked at how successful our parents were individually.”
“After Annie and I had our conversation about our respective parents that was when I came up with the plan that eventually led us to today and where we are now. I told Annie that since she wanted to know what Dad was like and I wanted to know Mom, we should switch places. She was a little resistant and hesitant to the plan at first until I told her we could pull it off because of the fact that we were twins. After I showed her my impression of her, she was on board except for the fact that we were completely different. I told her that I would teach her to be me and she would teach me to be her. I got her to agree because I told her that I wanted to know my ma. We planned to switch places and then have our parents’ switch us back which would make them come face to face with each other after all this time. She agreed and told me that the plan was brilliant, which I knew. After coming up with the plan, we spent the next few days teaching each other everything we could about each other’s lives including showing the floor plans of our respective homes. I knew that in order to make our father believe that Annie was me, we needed to cut her hair the same length as mine and pierce her ears to match me. I told her there was no way I could go to camp with pierced ears and come home without them because he would notice. Once the final day came, I wore Annie’s clothes that she had worn the first day of camp and she wore mine. There was one question that each of us had to find out the answer to. I would find out how Mom and Dad met which I did and then Annie would find out why they broke up. We had no idea that there was going to be a curveball thrown at us in the middle of our plan which would throw off our timing. Mom? The hug that I gave you after I saw you the first time was from Annie but the rest of them were from me. Dad? The hug Annie gave you the first time she saw you was from me but the rest were hers.”
