I grit my teeth and stare down at my half-completed F.C.A.T answer sheet.
Stupid standardized test.
I can't even read it, my dyslexia is causing the words and fill-in bubbles to float off the page and blur together. If that's not bad enough, the kid behind me is picking off parts of his eraser and flicking them at my head. Now-
Ouch!
I pull the pencil out of my dark blond hair and get out of my seat, ready to get this guy.
"Jasmine..", warns the teacher..
But before I can respond, the sink at the back of our science room explodes.

I know it's really short. U know what page ur on?

New and improved Chapter 1

But before I can respond, the sink at the back of our science room explodes.

All of the students whip their heads back to see what happened ,and POP! The fire sprinklers in the ceiling begin to rain down on the class. Kids shreik as if the water was acid and cover their heads with notebooks and their hoodies. Even the teacher ducks under her desk. Pathetic.

The boy from behind me- Justin rises to his feet. So do Alyssa and Kim. They all grin as if they'd caught me red-handed in crime. Kim snaps her fingers, and, the the rest of the class is frozen. Even the water droplets freeze in mid-air. I stand , horrified and stare at them, but the trobule is just beginning.

The trio's faces begin to morph, ears growing long and pointed, their skin turning a nasty shade of green.
"W-what are are you?", I manage to ask.

"Kabaloi.", Justin laughs at me. "Also known as demons, or goblins I suppose. In the old times, we were fond of just playing tricks on mortals. But our patron entroduced to a new game: Demigod hunting. She will reward us for your capture."

My head is spinning. Demigods? Capture me? What?

Alyssa makes a fake pouty face to me. "Awww. Poor honey. they didn't even try to warn you of your destiny."

Kim snorts, her now scaley green face wrinkling into a smile. It doesn't quite go well with her fuschia dress and yellow painted nails(which are now about a foot long.)

I stumble back, away from them, towards the teacher's desk. With a shaking hand, I nearly reach the phone-

"Oh, No you don't!" Alyssa lunges at me so I swat her away with the nearest thing on hand- my teacher's bag of Cheez-it's.

She screams as the bag rips open on her face. "SALT!"
Wherever one of those orange squares hit her, skin begins to bubble. She wails in pain and sinks to her knees.

I stand back repulsed and watch as she shrivels up. Gross.
It reminds me of the time on the playground the mean kids poured salt on a snail.

I have to get out of here. While Kim and Justin are distracted, I run for the door.
