There was no shadow of a doubt as a person and wizard Severus was above and beyond James. As a man and wizard James failed. He allowed Petagrue around despite knowing he was shady. Sev and anyone else would weed out anyone unstable in loyalty and backbone. As Albus pointed they put trust their in the wrong person. Peter's animagus (rat) choice told us alone who he was down inside.
Hell yeah. If he'd married Lily I think for starters he would have done a better job protecting her and their child. And if not, then their child would have been much smarter and less reckless and would have defeated Tom a lot earlier and in the process saved more lives. Of course that would have made the whole tale much shorter and perhaps not as entertaining...
Pretty sure everyone's opinions here will be biased, but Snape was a better man.
Although you have to admit it is difficult to make comparison since well...James died and we don't know how strong his character could have been. But anyways...screw him, go Severus! :P

omg snape is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing, james potter was a massive fathead n he bullied snape!! i dont actually care if james was harrys dad, SNAPE RULES!!!
Of course Snape was better Than James cuz James was a very arrogant person he had a huge ego but he was geting "better" in his last year of hogwart but still Snape is still better than James and Snape is much more powerful than James cuz James had to be with his friends to beat our dear Severus xD
