Reading Question

List your top 5 favorite book (or author) quotes. Include characters if you want. Quotes that made you cry, cringe, smile or laugh out loud...

For example, mine are;
1)Sometimes you have to lie to find the truth. Aya Fuse- Extras (4th book in the Uglies series)
2) For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn? Jane Austen
3)I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren't pretty, or smart, or young. They're still princesses. All of us. Sarah Crewe, A little Princess
4)You never forget the face of the person who is your last hope. Katniss Everdeen, The hunger games (well, ok she didn't SAY it, but I couldn't leave this one out!)
5) Once we turn, it’s new pretty, middle pretty, late pretty. Then dead pretty. Shay, Uglies (You have to read the book to get this really. But I love how it sounds funny but its about something very serious)
Get quoting! xD

This is such a hard question! But here goes:

(1) "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you." - Winnie the Pooh (my profile motto as of now! ;)
(2)"There are no ugly questions except those clothed in condescension." - East of Eden (book not the movie although it's great too!!!)
(3)"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." - Mark Twain (so true!)
(4)"If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to." - Dorothy Parker (great poet and VERY funny woman ;)
(5)"Riding the train gives him too much time to think, he has decided. Too much thinking can ruin you." - Ordinary People by: Judith Guest
(6)"Hell, all life is accident, every bit of it--who you fall in love with, what grabs you, and what you do with it. . . ." - Ordinary People (That book is just TOO good! I had to have more than one quote for it! ;)

1. "i dont care if my tea leaves spell out 'die ron die' im chucking them in the bin where they belong"- ron weasley, harry potter and the order of the phoenix
2. *isnt it odd how much fatter a book gets when youve read it a few times? as if something were left between the pages every time you read it. feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells....and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower... both strange and familiar. -mortimer, inkheart
3"deep in the meadow
under the willow
a bed of grass,
a soft green pillow.
lay down your head
and close your sleepy eyes
and when again they open,
the sun will rise.
here its safe
here its warm.
here the daises guard
you from every harm
here your dreams are sweet
and tomorrow brings them true
here is the place where
i love you
deep in the meadow hidden far away,
cloaks of leaves, a moonbeam ray,
forget your woes and let your troubles lay,
and when again its morning they'll wash away.
here its safe
here its warm
here the daisies guard
you from every harm
here your dreams are sweet
and tomorrow brings them true
here is the place where
i love you."
-katniss everdeen, the hunger games (this is the song she sings to her sweet friend Rue as she dies, probably one of the saddest scenes ever)
4."I was dying, of course, but then we all are. Every day, in perfect increments, I was dying of loss. The only help for my condition, then as now, is that I refused to let go of what I loved. I wrote everything down, at first in choppy fragments; a sentence here, a few words there, it was the most I could handle at the time. Later I wrote more, my grief muffled but not eased by the passage of time. When I go back over my writing now I can barely read it. The happiness is the worst. Some days I can't bring myself to remember. But I will not relinquish a single detail of the past. What remains of my life depends on what happened six years ago. In my brain, in my limbs, in my dreams, it is still happening."-daisy, how i live now
5."Music is a total constant. That's why we have such a strong visceral connection to it, you know? Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in your or the world, that one song says the same, just like that moment." owen, just listen

1. This was what I wanted. This guy. This life. This me. I was never getting my old life back, but I didn't care. I was happy. I was safe. I was right where I wanted to be.

~Chloe Saunders, The Reckoning. (That was the end.)

2."Albus Severus, you were named after two Headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and probably the bravest man I ever knew."

~Harry Potter, Deathly Hallows.

3."Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who tells you differently is selling something."

Westley, The Princess Bride

4."You should be proud to call Brom your father." said Nasuada. "By all accounts, he was a remarkable man. If not for him, the Varden wouldn't exist. It seems fitting that you are the one to carry on his work."

Nasuada, Brisingr

5."DON'T--" screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping, howling dog stuck in the burning house behind them-- "CALL ME COWARD!"

Severus Snape, Deathly Hallows
