I can see it both ways. But after the heart thing I think I'm more inclined to side with these two.

Belle should know by now not always defend someone who does evil things just because she loves them. He's tried to kill Emma and if they have no other choice, they'll have to kill him.

@louisajane Yes, I saw that but the fact of the matter is that none of the main characters, including his parents, know that. For all they know, he just wants to kill Emma. Rumple is talking about giving him more of a chance when he's not the best judge of that since Rumple has been given more chances than he deserves. Belle also keeps defending him when there wasn't any proof from their perspective that he had good in them. He tried to kill Emma and she's just going on one of her MANY speeches of hope and redemption she had used with Rumple but this time is with her son. So if it comes between either Emma's life or his life, Emma's is top priority with me!

I'm with zanhar1 on this. It's not Gideon's fault his grandmother took his heart and controlled him to kill Emma luckily Rumple did save her. If Emma and Snow knew about him being controlled by the black fairy they may be more understanding to the situation.

As I see it, it's simple; Emma or Gideon. And Emma comes first. Always.
