1. Curiosity. You've probably heard about the show from a friend or have seen a few pictures of ponies online at random, and you decide to try at least one episode of the show. most likely the first. you think "i have to see what the fuss is about."
2. assimilation. this is the point where you watch more than just the first episode of the series, and before you know it, you've gone through the whole series in a matter of hours. once you get to this stage, there's most likely no turning back
3. denial. you begin to think "there's no way i can like this show! it's for little girls!" you're also embarrased about your so-called "sick obsession," and become scared that your friends might find out. you may even quit watching for a few days
4. acceptance. if you are the type to quit ponies for a few days, you may be experiening what i like to call "pony withdrawal." i went through it for a week when i had to give up my ipod, and it is complete torture. at this point you accept the fact that you absolutely LOVE this show, and may even tell a friend or two (although you might make them promise they wont tell anyone). You might be a bit nervous if anyone is close to witnessing you watch ponies. you may also get into reading fanfiction, or join a forum or two.
5. I, brony... this is the stage where there is absolutely NO turning back. you have now fully accepted the fact that you are HOOKED on My little pony: friendship is magic. you cannot wait until the next episode of the series premieres, and you may have bought a few pony merchandise (except the frickin pink celestia *barf*). you have now become a brony. congrats!
