Music Question

What is your favorite music genre? What band introduced you to the genre (what was the first band you heard from that genre)?

I discovered Symphonic Metal through Within Temptation. Technically it was through Nightwish's Bye Bye Beautiful but I didn't know it was Symphonic Metal. Shortly after (not through the related videos) I found WT. The related videos then lead to Sirena's Path To Decay. From there I found Katra. Then I went back to WT and found Nightwish again and then found Epica. After finding Epica I found Delain and Amaranthe and so on.

post punk era's where its at! id say The Smiths. Listening to Handsome Devil (demo version) was a great song to start off. the raw sound fitted that punk style.

Symphonic metal!!! Introduced to it at the age of 9 through the album Once by Nightwish. The first song I heard was either Nemo, Wish I had an angel or Dark chest of wonders (my mum used to listen to them a lot).
