Pop is intentionally simpler.
A lot of people think pop is for shallow, uneducated music listeners and performers, but it's very necessary. it's not a mistake, it's done on purpose. it's intentionally designed to be popular

It's meant to stimulate the music industry. Pop songs are specifically designed to please as many people as possible. To keep people listening to music.
All your favorite non-pop artists don't appeal to as many people because they're not trying to. They do it for themselves and maybe for a few fans.

Without pop, record companies wouldn't make enough money to stay afloat in the industry. They need pop artists to make money.

Pop is pretty much the support of all other, less broad genres

There's not much of a difference, though. It's less resistant to changing with the time is the only thing.
