Why is there a war between Team Mindless & the Directioners?

I mean, MB SAYS that they want to collaborate (spell check?) with 1D and that they can really sing. So why is there a war between Team Mindless and the Directioners? I think we all know that MB or 1D wouldn't like to see their fans fighting over whos better. Does it really matter? Music is music, you should ENJOY it not fight over it ):
