The U.S. helped form the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989, and made suggestions to 38 of the original 40 articles. The CRC was signed under president Clinton’s administration in 1995, but was never sent for ratification. However, the U.S. has ratified the two Optional Protocols to the Convention, regarding child soldiers and sale of children. Therefore, it can be difficult to understand why they have not yet ratified the Convention itself.

With this campaign initiated by PRESS- Save the Children Youth Norway, we will put focus on the fact that the U.S. hasn’t ratified such an important convention that protects children’s rights. Through this information campaign we will educate people in Norway and internationally, and encourage them to sign the demand put forth to the U.S.

We need a United States that acknowledges children’s rights, and we won’t wait another 20 years for that to happen! If you agree, please sign our petition at www.goratify.com link
