	chel1395 picked yes: Before Al Gore took it upon himself, very few people really understood the seriousness of global warming. He's done more than anyone I can think of to create greater worldwide understanding of the serious threat facing the planet. I'm actually glad he didn't become president, because he wouldn't have had time to focus on this one issue as he has. posted over a year ago.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to mitigate man-made climate change, not for the film (he got the Academy Award for that). The film was a very small part of the work that he's done, all of which qualified him for the prize. posted over a year ago.
