Oh, but the saddest thing I heard after Sinbad’s performance at the box office is this from Jefferey Katzenberg, "I think the idea of a traditional story being told using traditional animation is likely a thing of the past." I don’t know what is it about traditional animation that makes it less marketable than 3D animation.
Dreamworks’ 2D animation probably had a similar charm almost to Disney’s next to like Don Bluth.

^Blame that on Shrek and Pixar. They made 3D cool in eyes of the mainstream audience and the association of 2D was related to "soppy and cliche Disney films". The bad rip-off films like Swan Princess or Anastasia also further helped to taint the image of 2D animation as well.

too bad the public treats dreamworks movies like garbage while they're current - no one gave sinbad or el dorado a fair shot because they weren't serious movies - and because they weren't disney - and now everyone's all "why doesn't dreamworks do 2D anymore?"
