All of the men were gathered outside of the massive base in a large courtyard on the edge of a small cliff out looking the ocean. Calico and a commander in black and yellow armor were standing in front of them. What they were waiting for arrived. Two vulture droids escorting a Sheathipede-class shuttle emerged from the fog. The shuttle deployed its bug-like landing gear and touched down on the round helicopter pad. The back doors opened and a long narrow ramp came out, a B1 battle droid commander came out first, followed by two super battle droids, side by side. They lined up at the end of the ramp off to the side, two additional droids emerged, Magnaguards. Calico gestured for his commander to kneel, as the droids also stood at the end of the ramp. Then, a hooded, cloaked man walked out, only part of his beard visible. Calico could tell his second in command was nervous. Then again, who wouldn’t be nervous first meeting a Sith lord? The hooded man walked past his saluting droids and approached Calico and said, “Rise, doctor...Calico, is it?” the man greeted.
Calico rose onto his feet. “Yes my lord,” he answered trying not to sound nervous. “It is a pleasure to have you here, Count...Dooku, correct?”
“Correct,” Dooku responded, pushing his hood off his head, revealing his white hair and the rest of his beard. “I assume you know why I have come before you.”
“Yes, or at least...I assume so,” he said, stuttering. “You have heard of my weapons and you wish to view them for yourself, and perhaps, buy them?”
Dooku smiled, “Oh, my plans are far greater than that. But first, I must, as you said, view these weapons. Shall we?”
Calico nodded and walked towards the main compound.
“...Though they may not be as powerful as your droid armies, I promise you, they have the best skills of this planet,” Calico boasted as he, his commander, Dooku, the droids, and a mysterious woman who arrived with Dooku and kept her hood up the entire time, walked along the catwalk overlooking Calico’s armies.
“Very impressive,” Dooku noted, looking across the neatly lined rows of the black-suited soldiers, cars, and helicopters. “These are better than I expected, a little...behind, in terms of technology, but still much power. Power you should put to use, my friend.”
“I have already tried to,” Calico responded. “And I will. I will have enough power to take over this entire planet, once our...guest, spills his guts, so to speak.”
“With the right motivation?” Dooku noted, smirking at the thought. Calico nodded. “I see, but if you join us, you will do much more.”
“What?” Calico inquired, confused.
“This is the reason I have come here. You see, your weapons are precisely what we need to win this war against the Republic. And if you join us, you will be given more immense weapons and fire power, and not only control a planet, but an entire system
Calico stepped back, taken by surprise. “A...a system?” he stuttered.
“Yes. With our assistance, you can have multiple planets under your reign. Populations will shake at the very mention of your name.”
Calico smiled, he liked the sound of it. He thought it over for a moment. “If we join you?”
“Exactly,” Dooku answered. “But before you do, I have one question. How did a simple man, like yourself, even with this entire corporation, come across so much power?”
“Why, my dear count, our guest of course,” Calico said as they reached the end of the catwalk, which had a guarded chair with a man with brown frazzled hair and a beard, wearing a white lab coat. “As you said, with the right...motivation.”
The man weakly looked up at the two, then dropped his head back down. “I see,” Dooku replied. “Well then, given the circumstances, do we have an arrangement?”
Calico looked back out across ranks of his army, and smiled deviously. The man with the labcoat looked up once more to see Calico’s hand extend to shake Dooku’s.
