The first flicker of dawn shone over the forest. Bolt woke up and stretched. Violet, however, wouldn't move. She was alive. Maybe she's just tired, Bolt thought. He nudged Violet gently on the side of her face. Violet raised her head and looked at Bolt, a soft sadness in her stare. "Bolt, my leg isn't doing so well," she said. Bolt gave a soft whimper and carefully "examined" the injured paw. "Well, well, look at this," Bolt turned over Violet's paw. "I think you cut it on a sharp rock." Violet looked for herself and nodded. Boy, she seemed exhausted. She was. Bolt decided he would lay beside her for a while. Rustles in the leaves and bushes erupted. Bolt perked up his head and his ear. "Violet," Bolt urged her to get up. "Violet!" Her ears shot up and she stood up. "what's wrong!" Violet looked around. "Foreign humans." A man came through the underbrush with a loaded tranquilizer gun, ready to shoot the dogs. "Not one of these rare whitw wolf mistakes again. I have a freakin' bandanna on!" "Say what?" Bolt said, confused. "White wolf mistakes?" "GD you Bolt. I just said that." Then. Silence. Gasps of a scared group. Two shots. "Son of a...........guns" Violet collapsed. "Ow! F you you F................'ers." Bolt fell next to his friend. The darts had taken effect. The man packed the dogs into cages and loaded them into a truck. He was taking them to a building where he kept animals like Bolt and Violet. Not quite a shelter or pound, but something similar. In the cage, Violet was waking up. She groaned and stood up. "Where are we?" she asked nervously. "In a freaking building with that man." Bolt replied. Violet wasted no time. She launched herself to the front of the cage and studied the door. Bolt had a confused look on his face. what was she doing? Bolt thought. Violet shot out a long claw and picked a lock. It opened. Violet snapped a latch into her mouth and flew out of the cage. "Let's go!" Violet shouted. "Come on, Vi!" Bolt yelled rushing past Violet. Violet bolted at Bolt and caught up. The dogs rushed through the door and encountered the man. Violet saw that both she and Bolt had that 'Holy shit' look on their faces. Violet was full of rage. "Move!" she shouted launching herself onto the man's back. With a quick move Violet bit the man's neck and leaped off. Bolt rushed in and out of the man's legs and tripped him. Bolt raced after his friend. violet was panting as she ran down a hall toward a door. She was confused now. Violet halted in front of the door. It was closed. What was she to do? "Out of my way, girl!" Violet moved just in time to let Bolt launch himself onto the door. Bolt dug his claws into the wood, just enough that he can remove them as well as get a strong grip in that door. Violet had one eyebrow up and the other normal. She was so confused. "Bolt, what're you doing?" Violet questioned eagerly. Bolt snarled at her and Violet closed her mouth. Bolt grunted and threw his weight against the door. The door opened---well, it broke down, and the dogs were out in an instant. The man cursed so loud that the dogs heard him. They halted and stared at the building. "Let's get out of here," Bolt said racing off. Violet nodded and dashed after Bolt.
