So I'm going to be really honest with you. After watching Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2 I really really really really don't want to watch this movie. That's why it took me so long to watch it and write this article and the reason I'm only just now doing it is because I borrowed this movie from the library almost 2 weeks ago and I have to return it tomorrow.
Tonight's rewatch: Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
Last time watched: 2000-2006
How much did I like this movie as a kid?
When I was little I loved this movie. Every year I used to pop this movie into the vcr (remember those?) and watch it every day. I stopped watching it for a while and when I did watch it again I actually felt kinda bored. I still adore the songs though. I have the Christmas songs on a Christmas playlist on my phone that I listen to every Christmastime.
How much of this movie have I forgotten:
The animation in this movie isn't as great as the first movie. I know this is a sequel but comparing the animation from the first movie to this movie it feels like a huge step down.
I forgot the way this movie set up the story by having the characters say "This is much better than last year" "You didn't save Christmas, I did!" Personally, I hate when movies set up stories this way. I know this is a sequel, but having the movie start at the ending and then tell the story just spoils the movie because it's obvious everything works out in the end. And the fact that this movie is a prequel (or is it a midquel?) doesn't help either
And another thing, this movie is a sequel, why did the writers feel the need to have their characters talk about setting up Belle with the Beast and that she could be the one to break the spell? We've all seen the movie and we all know that part, why did the characters need to tell the audience this again?
I know this movie takes place after Beast saves Belle from the wolves so why are Belle and Beast acting like that hadn't happened yet? At the beginning of the ice skating scene he glares at her before falling on the ice and he's wearing his original outfit (no shirt with tattered pants).
I thought Forte had an interesting cgi look, he looks so impressive and creepy and the fact that he's voiced by Tim Curry is a plus. To quote a Nostalgia Critic video, "For every one star of a movie he's in, he's the reason it got that one star." I can only think of one or two roles he's played that I hated but Forte is not one of them. He is an interesting sequel villain but I think I prefer Gaston. His song wasn't that impressive either and I think his singing could have been better. I've heard him sing in Pebble and the Penguin, Muppet Treasure Island, and Rocky Horror Picture Show and he's a great singer. It's kinda disappointing we didn't get to hear him really sing in this movie.
I still don't understand why the servants didn't tell Belle about why the Beast forbade Christmas. They didn't even need to tell the whole story, they could have just been vague about it instead of making him seem like a Grinch. At least when Beast assumed she didn't know why he hated Christmas Forte manipulated him into believing she knew, she just didn't care.
I still love some of the songs. As Long as There's Christmas always gets me tearing up a little and always gets me pumped for Christmas, but this time it's making me bummed that I have to wait 6 more months :P And Stories always gets me wanting to relax and open up a good book.
And I'm not going to lie, this scene actually got a laugh out of me:
Beast: What is that?
Lumiere: Oh, it looks like a Christmas present!
Beast: *slams present down and leaves*
Lumier: It's for you, Master. It's from a girl
Beast: *pokes his head in* Mrs. Potts?
I think Fife was the only sequel character I didn't like, I found him so annoying. Angelique may have been refusing to be part of Christmas because she didn't want to get her hopes up but she was still more interesting.
And as sweet as it was when Beast read the book Belle made him, I couldn't stop thinking about that one part in Human Again when Beast had a hard time reading to Belle because it had been so long since the last time he read. But to be fair this sequel came out a long time before Human Again was added to the first movie so I will let that one slide :P
Beside's Forte song the only other song I didn't like was A Cut Above the Rest, that song was a little catchy but it served no purpose. I honestly keep forgetting that song exists because it was so unnecessary.
Oh, and Beast killed a guy.
Movie:
I was a bit bored watching this but I liked it more than Mulan 2. While the story seemed out of place I'm happy that the characters actually stayed in character unlike Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2
Rating: 4/10
How much has my opinion changed?
It didn't change my opinion much
Would I watch it again?
Yes with my family at Christmas
Next movie will be the Beauty and the Beast remake!

They Should Make It!
Since Don Bluth had done it back in 1997, Disney should do it. In this version, they would make her mother Alexandra Fyodorovna along with Rasputin the main antagonists with the latter brainwashing the latter, prompting mother and daughter to be estranged or however the relationship should be. It wasn't until the final scene that Alexandra came to her senses!
They Should Not Make It!
I personally think that should not make it, because if they make Rasputin as the bad guy again. The story will be so familiar with the 1997 version! Unless they change the story and choose a brand new antagonists for the film.
An Imperial Moment
So, what do you think? Should Disney really make it or not?
1. Bergamasca (Marco Ucellini)
This music will be best, especially for the 3 classical princesses. It is very gentle and smooth when they dance with their princes.
2. Johann Strauss II's Waltzes
In fact, many of his waltz are quite popular and it would definitely be popular among the princesses themselves.
3. Joseph Lanner's Die Schonbrunner Waltz
Initially, I thought that it was compose by Strauss, but it is actually his rival Joseph Lanner.
4. Frederick Chopin's Waltz Music
I also love his music, his waltz is also another favourite for the Disney Princesses themselves.
A Toast!
Do you agree with my choice, if you do go ahead and listen to them.
1) Josh Groban
I have always been a fan of him and after listening to his rendition of If I Can't Love Her from the musical version on Youtube. I personally felt that Josh should have been cast as the Beast!
2) Urs Buhler & Carlos Marin (Il Divo)
Just so you know that Carlos Marin had previously played the Beast in the Madrid production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and I personally felt that his voice is more suitable.
The second choice was his Swiss bandmate, Urs Buhler because he has both the looks and voice for both Prince Adam and the Beast.
3) Il Volo
The Jonas Brother version of Il Divo, they sound perfect and Prince Adam would definitely sound very operatic. Do you agree?
Let The World Be Done with Me!
Here are my 3 choices, do you agree?
