The "Neon Lights" singer used Instagram to post a pic of her body in a barely-there bikini with a positive message on Friday.

"Regardless of what society tells you these days...You don\'t have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful," she says.

While she\'s sharing a message of self-love now, Lovato battled bulimia and admitted to

"I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time," she recalled. "I was done being afraid of food and so tired of overeating and not knowing why I did it," she said. "Now I\'m on a structured meal plan. I eat four small meals and two snacks a day. It\'s teaching me portion control."

And even though Beyonce has been criticized for thigh gap photo shopping, Lovato told the mag that her motto is, "If Beyonce can do it, I can do it."
