Childern are never taken seriously only pressumed there idea's are childish as for teen's we are looked at as if we have lost there minds. What we do now is only preparing for a future to change it we have idea's and views yet never release them because we know it will fall on death ears so we wait till the time comes and by then are idea's have been altered to fit into the norm that is society. In general in cause and effect nothing is ever done till a person keeps there ideals and idea's from child hood and teenage years and stands true to those dreams they once had to alter the world.

Kids can be proactive in their community in all kinds of ways. They can help other people, help other kids by volunteering in all kinds of programs. They can make a difference. If they care enough and are willing to expend the time and effort to do so.

The handful of non-pregnant, kids/teens where I live are very active in the community - volunteering, holding public debates about important issues before elections, going from school to school and informing the younger generation of important problems going on in the community and informing them of ways to help, giving their thoughts and ideas on how to better the schools and the community as a whole. They've changed a lot of opinions and bettered a lot of programs at the school. They've placed great ideas into the minds of the school board and, when it came tome to vote on certain things coming into play that were giant money spenders or simply un-useful, stepped up and voted against them.

If kids can do this for one community, imagine what they can do for a county, a state, a country.

A group of young adults, most of them under twenty, managed to get the University of Washington to stop dealing with companies that had their merchandise made in sweatshops.

It's important to empower our youth, so that they might become empowered adults. I encourage the kids I work with every day to reach their full potential.

I've made a difference in my school. I wrote to the headteacher about the presence of the military and absence of other organisations, and he wrote back! And changes will (most likely) be made!

Oh, and, students, and faculty at Gallaudet University (this was a few years back . . . 2006/2007, if I remember correctly) protested to remove their new president, Dr. JKF. They won, after a long, grueling fight and a new president, that fit everyone's needs and interests, was put in place.

The problem is that it is hard for everyone to make a difference. You have to be well organized and often children aren't. So it is harder, but not impossible.

I picked this because when a teacher says he/she never really means it but just says this because he/she wants to look good and child-friendly while most of them hate kids x3

^Speaking as a teacher, I can tell you that most teachers mean it when they say it, and most of us don't hate kids.

Chaann, also as a teacher - we get into this profession (the good ones, most of us) because we love kids, not because we hate them.

And as you can see from my answer, I do, 100%, believe kids can make a difference.

Age isn't a factor, knowledge and determination are.
