Personally I feel like in extreme cases where the child is in danger that these things should be options but it rubs me the wrong way that there is now this push for children to get surgery and use weight loss drugs instead of 1. teaching about exercise 2. teaching about healthy diets and 3. making healthier foods accessible (or at the very least not pumping aspartame and obscene amounts of sugar into everything). Like I read that the average American today can eat the same foods from the same companies as people in the 80's and they'd still struggle to stay healthy due to the massive amounts of sugars and what not that are just standard in today's foods.
Like maybe instead of pushing teens and kids to use weight loss drugs we touch on the real issue; predatory fast food companies that deliberately make foods addictive. Not just that but they also make them so that they fuck with hunger cues so and trick the body into not feeling full so that people will buy more shit. Maybe that's a thing that we can try; addressing ethics.
