Bones Question

about 1x19_The Man in the Morgue(the Voodoo episode)...

i'm new to BONES and a bit slow when understanding things that are not said straight-out.

i wanna know what it means when Bones says 'it proves something' in the end of the episode when Booth gives her the lost earring.
i still can't get it...

Either that or I think it proves that some "things" really do carry meaning, they are not just "things". In this case I think it refers to her feelings for her mother, it being her mother's earring. She really did feel bad at the beginning when she lost it.

Brennan says that ``things are just things, they do not have magical meanings and power. objects have no magical power over the future.`` But The earing was Brennans mothers earing and it has a magical power to Brennan. It was because of her mother and fathers disappering Brennan became a forensic anthropologist, and the earings are a reaminder of why she does her job, so in a way it did have an impact on her future.
