No, in no way is Raoul the bad guy.. He does some stupid things I'll admit, but he always has good intentions...

In terms of the other answer. "He stole Christine from the Phantom" - 1) he and Christine were childhood sweethearts before she even went to the opera house, therefore if we're going on ownership (which stealing implies) he had her first.. 2) After Little Lotte he does not pursue her, when they next meet, she has gone to him.. 3) If any "stealing" is done then I would say DOM would be the Phantom stealing Christine literally...
And as for fop - "a foolish man overly concerned with his appearance and clothes in 17th century England" - I would say he was not that. His number one concern throughout the whole movie is Christine, everything he does is for her.

Of course not! He was the conly one who loved Christine for who she was and not just for her voice. Come on, guys...if Erik couldn't teach Christine singing, he wouldn't have loved her!

I have to disagree there, phantommusic. Erik loved Christine even before he taught her to sing. He always cared very deeply for her. But that isn't the point: I'm not a big Raoul fan myself, but he definitely wasn't bad.

I don't think the story had a "real bad guy"
