Put trolls to the side and let them pass unless they get physical first. There are more productive things to do with ones mate than make her watch a fight. ;)

Unless there was physical violence, then there is no reason to kick anyone's ass. But I am patient and a black belt, so I've been taught not to fight. Just make sure that your reply to the troll makes them look as stupid as they likely are (most trolls are mentally lacking attention hogs) and let it pass. The longer you're online, the more of them you'll run into them. Sooner or later, you realize that you've wasted too much time on people who wanted nothing more than to have you react exactly the way you are now. But that's just this old wolf's thoughts on the matter. :)
