As a endless possibility to be made by anyone, yes.
I personally think if they make a really good sequel about the original characters, then I don't mind if they stopped there, but at the same time, I hope it lasts forever by fans, like Lion King and so on. :)
As much as I love it to be, but sadly no... I don't want Alpha and Omega to be ruined like The Land Before Time. Plus, every good series must end some time. If I want this series to end, I want it to end in a bang, with the very best movie that will top the first one.
I don't think it would "ruin" it if people made more.
The first movie will never change it's quality, or value no matter how many sequels get made..
But as I said, I think the company should end after a good enough sequel, but if someone wanted to make more just like the Lion King after 10 years for example, I don't see a problem at all.
The Lion King is still a classic as it is even though that third movie of Lion King didn't have that much support compared the first one..
It's like culture and media too. Once something gets made, it will most likely be used for sequels and such. Usually for Public Domain stuff. lol
Edit: I remembered too, good series usually continue like the FF series, the Kingdom Hearts series, Star Wars, etc.
If someone makes a good sequel for the first movie, some people will want more, or maybe much later.. and I do not think we should just 'not allow' new stuff to be made as if that causes something.
