Seriously, I'm sick to hear that stupid nickname

I think Sasha is a russian nickname for Alexander, but I agree, I Think it's stupid. Sasha is a name of an anorectic Bratz doll, and I cant help but think of her every time I hear " Sasha "

and i agree, always when i hear name "sasha", i automatically think that doll...

I know that it's common in Russia but I personally just don't like the name Sasha and everytime I hear anyone calling him like that I don't think it suits him well. He calls himself Alex and I prefer that as well.

if i fucking wanna call him sasha (even i call him a lot Alex) then im gonna call him sasha.

well truth is that this nickname piss me off too but you know there's nothing we can do! People who call him like that are also his fans and my opinion is that they can call him as they like as long as its not offensive! ;)

everyone called him sasha in finland in summer & autumn but now everybody calls him alex :D i think sasha is cute name but i prefer more alex ♥

Okay, guys... Sasha is not a nickname, but a short name for Alexander. Every name in Russia has its shorter version (Galina becomes Gala, Svetlana becomes Sveta...). But I think Sasha only sounds good when a Russian says it. xD

Alexander is really a great name with a lot of history.

Yeah, as someone already said, Russians have a nickname for every name :) I learned in Russian today ( 27.8.-10. ) that Russians like always say their friends/relatives names with the nickname :)

I don't mind people calling him 'Sasha' since it's short for Alexander in Russia, but 'Smurf' is the lamest nickname I've heard so far. *shivers* Last time I checked Alex was a 24-year old handsome man (and I hope he still is!), not a freaking blue thing with white pants. Ô_o

@s0nja: Russians pretty often use the nicknames. For an example, my mother's name is Veronika, but for friends, she's always Vika. ^^

The FaceBookies call him Smurf, because in a review of Fairytales, the reviewer said Alex was a violin-playing hobbit with a smurf voice, or something like that, and since then, they call him Smurf. O.o
But I don't get why they call him Smurf! He's frikkin tall! O.o

i think it's quite normal,
cause in finland Aleksanteri's (<- finnish boys name) nickname is very usually 'aksu',
so alexander with X, is aXu!! :d:D:D
i think sometimes alexander sounds too official. but i also call him alex.. it depends :):)
