"An important vision to continue!"
The artist Alexander Rybak thinks it’s important, to honor Ketil Moe’s memory and vision. That’s why he performed on Saturday (it was Sunday actually ) in “Dyreparken” at the Ketil Moe run race. The Grand Prix winner gave a concert and sang for nearly an hour before the race started. At the finish line he presented the medals, signed autographs and posed for pictures to the joy for both able-bodied and disabled.
Rybak lived in Lillesand until he was 11 years old (not correct. His family spent their summer holiday in the area), and new Ketil Moe. And he thinks it’s important to be present to continue Moes visions:
“There are many diseases and conditions. I caught a glimpse of cystic fibrosis through Ketil Moe. I knew him when he lived, and I was tremendously inspired by his charisma. Even at his lowest points, he was a joy- spreader. Therefore it is appropriate to arrange a race like this in his spirit, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to be here.”
Around 850 people bought tickets, to attend the 19th edition of Ketil Moe run race. As usual, those who are the fastest don’t use many minutes to complete the race, while others take it easier.
The first one to pass the finish line, was Even Meinseth from Fevik, who has participated six times already, and shortly after – his sister Ingvild.
“Our grandparents always bring us to this event. I think its fun. It is good that there are races like this, where everyone who participates are equal regardless of conditions”, Even says.
Several of the disabled were fast to pass the finish line, and showed immense pleasure over their own run. Carl Jon Hansen from Lillesand, who has helped to arrange the run race over the years, believes that this pleasure is a big part of the race:
“That’s the part that makes this run- race so special, when you see disabled people show the same joy to compete”, Hansen says. Marc Christian and Carl Martin Bentsen also from Lillesand, agree in that. The idea behind the run race is very nice, they stated.
